Idea Cafe is the ukrainian coffee shop, located in one of the Lviv Polytechnic National University buildings.
Target market of a coffee shop – students and teachers, who need snacks and some coffee during the work day. The client also informed me, that it’s gonna be loft style coffee shop.
I started with some ideas and presented the best ones to the client.
Concept 1. When I think about students and teachers, I understand, that most of them are in a hurry, they have only 10-15 minutes to drink something or bite something quckly, maybe grab something and leave. They have no time. They have work to do. So, my first concept behind the logo is based on a mug of coffee or tea with handle, that also can be seen as monogram, that combined first two letters ( i+d ) of a business name to form a smart logo.
The meaning of the company name is really easy to grasp. Smart logo. I really like these kinds of logos, because they make you take a second look and say “wow, that’s clever!”.
Concept 2. And there’s other category of students and teachers, who love to sit around in a coffee shop and work there for an hour or so. These students and teachers have time. They have time to use it for thinking, drinking a cup of coffee while working on a computer. The logo concept is based on a cup of coffee, light bulb ( that stands for idea ) and can also be seen as thought bubble.
The client loved both concepts, but decided to choose the first one.
In summary, the Idea Cafe logo turned out to be a unique, memorable, creative logo with a touch of modernism that portray’s Idea Cafe’s business in the best possible light.
What about you? What did you see in the logo? A mug, letter “i”, something else? I value your input and look forward to your comments.
